Are Personal Electronics becoming bothersome handcuffs to us?
Cell phones, Computers, GPS Systems, Handheld gizmoes, etc.- They are great toys at times, but are we letting them alter our lives in ways we didn’t intend them too? Expense, new laws,(no cell phones in hospital, digital only TV signals) and a vast global connectability that lets in bad as well as good
I wonder nowdays if they are becoming liabilities instead of assets?
There is a saying: “What you take into hand, you take into your life”. How many downsides do you see coming packaged with these things, if any?

Seems I remember reading about people who made the same observations back in the 1890′s. The steam locomotive made life run too fast, and the horseless carriage just brought unrestrained mayhem to genteel society.
While a good argument could be made about giving a loaded gun to a moron who’d look down the barrel as he pulled the trigger, just to see how the bullet comes out, it’s kinda hard to put all of society in straightjackets to protect them from themselves. Maybe Darwin’s theory about ‘Survival of the Fittest’ takes on a new dimension with technology.

But, nothing is ever perfect and everything that has ever existed, exists now, and will exist in the future will have its caveats as well as its benefits.
Just as modern personal electronics can be a curse as well as a blessing, so had things been before Blackberries and iPods.
My take: don’t worry about it and just deal with life as best as you can with what YOU feel are the answers to YOUR problems.
